Training Needs Assessment

A training needs assessment is required to determine what training is necessary to optimize performance. A needs assessment is particularly useful when contemplating a new mine or plant start-up. The needs assessment should be done early in the project life cycle—at least 2 years prior to start-up.The training needs assessment:

  1. Establishes the blocks, units, modules, and reference material required to ensure all personnel are ready to start-up and run the mine and plant.
  2. Provides a schedule and critical path for development.
  3. Provides a schedule for trainers and trainees for the execution of training instruction.
  4. Identifies resources required for training.
