Plant Operator Training

To optimize plant performance, operators must consistently control critical process variables, accomplish tasks safely in accordance with established procedures, and react to process upset conditions based on fundamental knowledge of the process. Anything short of these objectives will result in degraded yields, recoveries, and production performance. Performance Associates' operator training programs use custom-developed operating manuals and associated training modules. Each course is taught by an experienced plant specialist, and students directly participate in the learning experience. Training includes:

  1. Lecture with emphasis on student participation.
  2. Plant visits to observe unit operations.
  3. Students completing workbooks and subsequent discussion.
  4. Use of visual aids to facilitate learning.
  5. Simulation drills.
  6. Knowledge assessment tests.
Performance Associates' plant operator training programs are particularly useful for preparing new operators to start-up new plants. The only alternative to a good start-up training program is learning by trial-and-error when the plant actually starts. This approach nearly always results in a protracted start-up period prior to reaching design production goals.
