Mine and Plant Preventive Maintenance Programs

The ultimate goal of preventive maintenance (PM) is to prevent equipment failures by conducting proper and timely equipment lubrication and inspections. Performance Associates has an extensive database containing preventive maintenance procedures for most metallurgical plant equipment, as well as mobile mining equipment. Our maintenance specialists develop PM checksheets for each craft required to perform preventive maintenance on each piece of your equipment. PM checksheets are developed for each PM frequency required by each piece of equipment. Performance Associates preventive maintenance programs include procedures for:

  1. Equipment lubrication.
  2. Mechanical preventive maintenance checks.
  3. Electrical preventive maintenance checks.
  4. Instrumentation preventive maintenance checks.

Lubrication checksheets contain the lubrication requirements of the equipment for the specified PM frequency. The mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation checksheets contain the steps required to perform a thorough examination of your equipment to identify any existing or potential equipment problems.

Performance Associates has assisted clients like you in developing an effective preventive maintenance program that will:

  1. Facilitate optimum work distribution and scheduling in the maintenance department.
  2. Maintain consistent maintenance labor requirements.
  3. Provide documentation for maintenance workers to perform the specific tasks in a manner that emphasizes the reporting of measurable observations.

PM programs can be delivered on Performance Manager, Performance Associates proprietary computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), or it can be delivered in an electronic format that may be used by your particular CMMS. Performance Associates prepares PM schedules as well. Our specialists prepare PM schedules in such a way that, where possible, consistent manpower requirements are ensured without overloading your resources.

A PM program can be initiated at any time, but Performance Associates recommends preparing a complete preventive maintenance program prior to putting a plant or a mobile equipment fleet into service. This allows maintenance personnel to be fully trained and prepared to maintain the equipment from the start of operation. Our specialists will also update and modify existing PM programs to improve and maximize their effectiveness.
